The fascinating The Story of Hong Kong: Historic Walking Tour traces the history of a remarkable city from bandits and opium to rebirth under its giant neighbour, as traced through the buildings, open spaces and waterfront!

The adventure begins when you make your way to the Sheung Wan MTR station and meet your guide at station Exit B. On this walking tour, you’ll discover the path this one-time British outpost took to become a proud member of the People's Republic of China.

The tour kicks off from Sheung Wan where, at Possession Point, the British first took Hong Kong. At Possession Point, where Hong Kong became part of the empire, to the spot where sovereignty was handed over in 1997, the history of Hong Kong as a crown colony lies before you.

Learn about the history that dates back to the past centuries of both Hong Kong and China. The streets and lanes tells you the stories and folklores of incidents and historic collaboration of both these places. Experience how a fusion of extremely different cultures has shaped Hong Kong today from its architecture and art right through to its mind set of the people who call it home.

You will then walk the Sun Yat-Sen historical trail and see where the founding father of republican China went to school, had his medical training, established the Revive China Society and plotted the revolution against the monarchy.

You will then head towards the old administration center of Victoria City (as Hong Kong was then called), including the Central police station, the Magistracy and the Victorian Prison Compound.

Next it’s on to the new Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre which is famous as the place where the 1997 Hong Kong sovereignty hand-over ceremony took place. This popular spot is an ideal place to end this walking tour in Hong Kong, so you can choose to explore the busy waterfront further or head back into the center of the city.

Conclude the tour with a visit to the Tamar Government Complex in Admiralty which was once a dockyard of the Royal British Navy and now the headquarters of China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Regional Government.

Get to know what is going on in Hong Kong and where will it head to in the upcoming years. Know Hong Kong up close like never before to make the rest of your stay more enhancing.

Upon conclusion of the tour, you will be dropped at Admiralty MTR station. From here, you will need to make your own arrangements to get back to your accommodation.
